CORE VALUES
* PRAYER –
Prayer acknowledges that we depend completely on God for His guidance, direction and provision. Through prayer, God reminds us of His promise to instruct us and teach us in the way we should go, counsel us, and watch over us
(Psalm 32:8).
Prayer, therefore, shapes and forms our faith. It is through prayer that God both ministers to us and challenges us to believe with all our hearts that anything we consider, attempt or accomplish comes through the infinite grace and blessings of God alone.
*LOVE –
Love the Lord our God with all our hearts, soul, and mind and love others as ourselves (Matthew 22:37). We also recognize that whatever we do in word and deed will amount to nothing unless we love others (1 Corinthians 13:1-3). Jesus commands us to love each other and to love everyone including even our enemies (John 15:12; Luke 6:27-36).
*CONNECT –
Connect with others and connect them to God. We are focused on building relationships motivated by love, centered in Christ, and focused on discipleship. We want to call out believers from among refugees and from among the people in the communities in which they live and then to develop them into Disciples of Christ and empower them to minister within their communities. Our goal is to make disciples of all nations.
*SERVE –
Our Lord Jesus Christ came to serve the world and not to be served and we want to walk in his footsteps to serve the world with humility and sacrifice (Mark 10:45).
Service develops relationships of mutual benefit by nurturing positive attitudes in local communities. Service is important to us because it puts our faith into practice. Therefore, our service is Christ-centered which gives us an important identity and reputation that not only attracts people, but builds trust, credibility, and relationships. Our service is one way that we network with people and places.
*MULTICUTURAL TEAMWORK –
Refugees from different countries, nationalities, cultures, ethnicities, color and languages both lead and take part in the work of FCR International and all its ministries. Non-refugees with similar backgrounds within various communities are also involved. We regard each person as a teammate. Therefore we emphasize those things that we have in common rather than things that might divide us. This means in all we do and say, the focus is on Christ Jesus in whom we have our identity and our unity.
*CHRIST-CENTERED MINISTRY –
We recognize the need for the Word of God to dwell in us richly so that we live lives worthy of the Name and Gospel of Jesus Christ and by so doing lead others to Him. Our focus in all we do is on Christ. We want both our words and our actions to preach and reflect Christ. When we are Christ-centered then we are balanced in our faith and witness. We will not emphasize matters of faith at the expense of living them out. Likewise we will not focus only on our witness, such as service, without recognizing Christ as the origin and sustainer for what we do.
